Children’s Dentistry

We believe good oral health starts in childhood. That is why we are pleased to treat your entire family including your children. Our team is committed to making your child feel comfortable and welcomed from the start. We encourage you to bring your child in for cleanings and checkups every 6 months. This will give us the opportunity to continually educate your child about the good hygiene and oral care as well as diagnose and treat any issues early on. We are pleased to offer a variety of services geared to our youngest patients.

Fillings

Although baby teeth are not permanent, these teeth will remain until your child’s adult teeth come in, which is typically several years. Additionally, baby teeth help the adult teeth to come in properly. Because of this, maintaining the health of baby teeth is important. If your child develops a cavity in a baby tooth, it is important to fill this tooth much like you would treat an adult tooth.

Sealants

In some children, the tooth structure has fine grooves or pits that accumulate plaque, not because the child does not brush well, but because the grooves are too narrow to allow a toothbrush to clean them. If left untreated, cavities will develop here over time. As a preventative measure, sealants are sometimes used to fill in these narrow grooves making it possible to brush off all the plaque and keep the teeth healthy.

Tooth Extractions

Sometimes tooth decay has advanced to the point where an extraction, or removal, of the tooth is necessary. We use every measure to ensure that your child is comfortable during this procedure.

If you would like to schedule an appointment for your child, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

Dental Bridges

Bridges are a great option to fill the space created by a missing tooth. The bridge is formed to look like the missing tooth and uses the surrounding teeth for support. A bridge replaces the missing tooth both functionally and cosmetically. If you are interested in learning more about dental bridges, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is likely to break or is too broken-down to be restored with a filling. Crowns cover the weakened tooth providing strength, protecting the tooth against breakage, and creating a beautiful smile. If you would like to learn more about crowns, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

Dentures

Dentures replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. Dentures are fitted to go over or around the remaining teeth. If you would like more information regarding dentures, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

Dental Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling because new material fills the hole left by the decay. Caught early, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If you believe you have a cavity that needs a filling, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer screening is a quick and painless examination of all the areas of your mouth to identify any cancerous or pre cancerous areas of concern. It is important to do these checks routinely. If you would like more information about oral cancer screenings, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal therapy repairs and preserves a tooth that has a necrotic or infected pulp (the part of the tooth composed of the nerves and blood vessels). During this procedure, the pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. If you are having persistent pain in a tooth, you may need root canal therapy. Please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

TMJ/TMD Treatment

TMJ and TMD refer to problems with the temporal-mandibular joint. This is the joint connecting the head and the jaw. Signs that you may have a problem with this joint include headaches, earaches, trouble opening and closing the mouth, clicking or popping of the jaw, pain in the jaw muscles, and soreness. There are many ways to address this problem, depending on the specific needs of the patient. If you are having issues with this joint, please contact us at (337) 942-9233.

Tooth Extractions

While we work hard to help you keep your teeth healthy and intact, there are a number of reasons why a tooth may need to be extracted. Our expert team will walk you through the process and keep you comfortable throughout the procedure as well as after. If you believe you have a tooth that needs to be extracted, please call our office at (337) 942-9233 to learn more.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Third molars, or wisdom teeth, erupt in most adults between 17 and 21 years of age. However, there are a number of reasons why these molars may need to be removed: the angle of the tooth, the tooth’s size, and the space that’s available in the mouth. In some cases, the wisdom teeth do not fully erupt, but become impacted, also necessitating removal. If you are having an issue with your wisdom teeth, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233 to learn more.

Implant Restoration

A dental implant is the most advanced option for a patient with missing teeth or requiring a tooth extraction. It involves the surgical insertion of a post into the jawbone, which serves to replace the lost tooth’s roots. Following this procedure, our team will work to restore both the look and function of the natural tooth with the use of a custom made crown. To learn more about dental implants, please contact us at (337) 942-9233.

Preventive Dentistry

Dental Hygiene

We believe that preventative care is a vital part of good oral health. This is why we recommend you visit our office every 6 months for a dental cleaning as well as a checkup. Our team will examine your mouth, remove plaque and tartar, and polish and floss your teeth. We may perform x-rays to help us diagnose any problems before they are symptomatic. If you are in need of a dental cleaning and exam, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

Ultrasonic Dental Cleanings

For our patients with significant tartar buildup or who are inclined to develop gum disease, we recommend ultrasonic dental cleanings. With this technique, electromagnetic forces in a hand-held instrument cause a vibration that blasts away plaque, calculus and stains from the tooth surfaces. If you would like to learn more, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

Gum Disease Treatment

The gums, ligaments, and bone around the teeth (periodontium) form the foundation for one’s teeth. When these structures are not healthy, it jeopardizes the teeth just as a bad foundation would threaten the stability of a house. Signs of an unhealthy periodontium (gum disease) include: gums that are red and bleed easily, persistent bad breath, gums that are pulled away from the teeth, loose teeth, and changes in the position or bite of the teeth. With the proper treatment, however, it is possible to return them to a healthy state. If you are concerned about gum disease, please contact our office at (337) 942-9233.

TO ENSURE YOUR DENTAL TREATMENT IS AFFORDABLE, WE ACCEPT MOST FORMS OF INSURANCE.
