Digital X-Rays
X-rays are a necessary part of the diagnostic process for dentists. In our office, we used digital radiography which allows us to take x-rays using 50-70% less radiation than conventional x-rays. Coupled with computer monitoring, digital x-ray technology allows us to enhance the images for a better dental diagnosis. Please contact our office at (337) 942-9233 to learn more.
Digital Scanning
There are many reasons why we may need to create a model of your mouth: to create a denture or bridge, to make a crown, to make a mouth guard, to make whitening trays, or to complete orthodontic work. Traditionally, these models were created by taking a dental impression of your mouth. This process involved placing a tray of wet plaster like material in your mouth and waiting for it to dry before removing it. There are many reasons why this method was less than ideal. We are pleased to now offer our patients digital “impressions.” This process eliminates the need for plaster and instead uses a digital wand which is waved inside the patient’s mouth to create a digital image of the area. There are many advantages to using a digital scanner: it is more comfortable for the patient, it is faster for the dental team, and it creates much more accurate images.
